Local photo displayed in Times Square

The above photo will be displayed on Kodak’s marquee in Times Square in New York City this summer. It was one of 19 photos chosen from photographers around the U.S. to be displayed on a rotating basis.

UW-Whitewater alumnus Adam Kneeland with wife Miranda Zynda-Kneeland. The two opened a phtography sutdio called Reminisce Studio by Miranda & Adam in 2007.

UW-W alumnus, wife, lead Milwaukee studio to national spotlight through Kodak competition

“At first we were in disbelief, it seemed a little too good to be true,” Zynda-Kneeland said.  “Out of all the photos that were submitted, we feel honored and excited that one of ours was chosen.”

The photograph selected is one of 19 photos from photographers throughout the country to be displayed on a rotating basis on the marquee of the Kodak Times Square Gallery. The photo will be displayed throughout the summer.

“As far as we know it hasn’t been displayed yet but it will be in the next couple week or so,” Kneeland said.

The photos selected are part of Kodak’s Connect with Pro Quality campaign. Beside being in Times Square the photo will also appears on Kodak’s website and in print and email collateral.

“The advertising and recognition of our brand is priceless,” Kneeland said. “I think that’s worth far more than anything else they might have been able to give us.”

Reminisce Studio began in 2007. Adam brought his business degree into the equation with Miranda’s graphic art and photography degrees to get things off the ground. Both have been trained as professional photographers, but their first shoot was just to help a friend who asked them to photograph his wedding.

Zynda Kneeland said it is the studio’s fine art approach to photography and attention to detail that sets them apart from other photography studios.

“We kind of pride ourselves on seeing things differently,” Zynda-Kneeland said. “We’re always paying attention to unique light and shadows in the space and bringing attention to things that might not normally be noticed.”

Connecting with clients on a personal level is another part of their job. The studio does a wide variety of photo shoots, but may be best known for wedding photography. The studio only books a limited number of weddings each year to guarantee the absolute best quality and creativity.

For a wedding shoot the Kneeland’s may spend a day with the bride and groom prior to the shoot, just to get to know the couple. This helps the Reminisce Studio showcase the bride and groom’s personality.

“Because we spend so much time investing in our couples, we never do any two shoots the same way,” Kneeland said. “We completely tailor our sessions and how we shoot based on what we find out and get to know about the couple.”

The two have been together for 10 years and married for four. They met through a mutual friend who went to grade school with Kneeland and high school with Zynda-Kneeland.

“It was funny because we had heard all of these stories about each other from our friend,” Zynda-Kneeland said.“So we knew a lot about each other before we met and just kind of clicked right from the beginning.”

The duo got their start in photography when a friend asked them to photograph their wedding.

“We both kind of had the entrepreneurial spirit, so it fit really well for us,” Zynda-Kneeland said.

In 2010 and 2011 they were awarded the Bride’s Choice Award from WeddingWire, a national wedding review and resource website.
