When the idea to implement a sex column into the Royal Purple was brought up to me by one of my close friends and fellow staff members, I was a little skeptical at first. Even more uncertainty came with taking the column on, and deeming myself a sex columnist.
The Royal Purple has never had a column like this before, so my doubts about its merit were justified.
But then I began to think, would this be something college students would actually read? Could this be something that would bring them back every week, and maybe help them out in their personal lives?
The answer, I hope, is yes.
But before my reasons become flooded with doubts, let’s get one thing straight: this will not be a commentary in which I share every detail of my sexual experiences.
Rather, it will be a column in which I talk firsthand about sex and its role in college student’s lives. I will draw from personal experiences only when necessary to enhance the message I am extending to my audience.
The purpose of this column is to address one of the most prevalent aspects of college life, and in American society. Whether or not people are willing to address that is their concern.
The topics I will cover in this column can be helpful for anyone, whether they are in a relationship or single. I will talk about a variety of topics, including ways to spice up a relationship, single life sex, lingerie, not having sex, and so much more.
But do know that if you are looking for a “how to” piece, complete with graphic details, you are reading the wrong column.
I don’t want to trivialize the act of sex, although some who read this will think I’m doing just that. I understand some may not like that the Royal Purple is featuring a column about sex. However, I believe sex is a necessary aspect that should be addressed, and one that is too often overlooked for fear of offending people.
This column is meant to be informative, but lighthearted. It is meant to entertain, and to help. These are my ultimate goals as the editor of this column.
If you have anything you’d like to see featured in a future column, or if you have questions or concerns, please feel free to shoot me an e-mail. I will be more than happy to address any issues, questions or compliments.

Way to keep it classy Royal Purple, not. What happened to reporting real news? You are news paper, not Playboy.
