Campus Special is offering students a new way to save money at local businesses this fall.
The nation’s largest provider of coupon books for college students, Campus Special, is introducing the Campus Special App for Android and iPhone mobile devices.
The app serves as a mobile version of the coupon books the company prints. The app automatically locates a student’s campus and shows what companies in the area are offering deals.
In an August press release, Campus Special Co-Founder Joe Jacobs said, “Our goal was to incorporate all of our services into one cohesive product. What better way to do that then place our product in the one thing that students have with them at ALL times….their phone.”
The app allows students to view business hours, delivery info, and even place an order online. Students can also redeem coupons from the book straight from their phone.
According to the press release, junior Laura Gariepy, who interned with CampusSpecial.com, said, “My friends are super excited about this app, because in the past we’ve often times forgotten our coupon books at home-now if we do, we’ll have the entire book plus our campus Food Court, right on our phone.”
Some of the Whitewater restaurants available through the app include Gus’s Pizza, Fat Jack’s, Katrina’s Mexican Restaurant and Rosa’s Pizza.
Students can download the app for their phone by vising CampusSpecial.com and clicking on the link, downloading it from Apple’s AppStore or the Android Market, and also by scanning the QR code on the front of the coupon book with their phone.
Physical copies of the coupon book can be found at the university bookstore, located next to Goodhue Hall.
The book includes coupons for businesses in both Whitewater and Janesville and all coupons expire at the end of the year.
