The Warhawks carried over their momentum from Florida sweeping UW-Stevens Point Thursday, but lost it when they fell to Illinois Wesleyan University twice in a doubleheader Friday.
The softball team may have spent spring break in Florida, but they took care of business on the field during their trip, winning 11 of their 12 games to start the year.
Its 11-1 record marks the team’s best start under head coach Brenda Volk’s tenure here at UW-Whitewater, which dates back to 1999.
The UW-Whitewater softball team will begin its season this week in Florida, where the team will play 12 games in six days.
The ’Hawks’ junior catcher Emily Epifanio said the team’s spring break trip to Clermont, Fla., is really more of a business trip than a vacation. The team has double headers on six out of the seven days.
In a must-win situation, the softball team came up short against the UW-River Falls Falcons last weekend, dropping both games of a double header, 8-7 and 5-4.
