Retraction regarding assistant professor Zhengnan Shi from 2011

In a series of articles published from April 22 to May 11, 2011 in the Royal Purple student newspaper regarding the lawsuit between UW-Whitewater and assistant professor Zhengnan Shi, the Royal Purple incorrectly reported that Shi had been barred from campus for making comments about the 2007 Virginia Tech shootings. In fact, Shi was barred from campus based off an order from UW-Whitewater Chancellor Richard Telfer. Shi has since been cleared of making any alleged remarks regarding the Virginia Tech shootings. The Royal Purple regrets the error.

The Royal Purple also cited court documents including information compiled by the Campus Assessment and Response Evaluation Team that were later found to be without merit. We regret any misunderstanding that might have ensued as a result of this information presented as fact at the time the articles were published.
