App Review: Evernote

Dec. 10, 2014

By Rumasa Noor

Evernote, as the name suggests, is a note-taking application, but that’s not all it does.

It’s note-taking feature allows users to not only add text, but they also can add a reminder, use a microphone to record audio notes, use a camera to add pictures from their phone and also offers some of the basic features Microsoft Word has such as indenting, highlighting, numbering and more.

One of the most appreciated features of the application is its ability to synchronize. The notes can be accessed from multiple devices at the same time. In fact, the app is more appealing to use through a PC or Mac.

The notes also have a Work Chat option. This feature allows multiple people to work together or share information virtually.

Another feature is Evernote Web Clipper which enables people to “clip” or save anything from the web on the app.

The app contains a search area to make it easy for people to find specific information they are looking for.

Evernote’s premium feature allows people to secure their account through a “Passcode Lock” which permits one to lock the application on any device.

It also offers Offline Notebooks to enable users to access and work through their documents with or without the Internet connection.

One unique feature of the application is the Business Card camera. It enables user to take a picture of a person’s business card. It not only scans the card but if the user is signed into Linkedin and the business card’s email matches the person’s email to their Linkedin account, it captures additional information from their account.

Evernote offers users to get premium by referring friends to Evernote.

Although it might take some time to fully learn and make the most of all the features it offers, Evernote is useful, nevertheless.
