Student dies over weekend

Sophomore Tyler Pierce, 20, died over the weekend in his hometown of Monroe, Wis. No foul play is suspected.

Pierce was survived by an older brother, Josh, and younger sister, Aly.

A huge sports fan, Pierce had the Packers “G” logo tattooed on his back. He also played baseball, basketball and football in high school.

“It’s really a shame when the world loses someone like Tyler,” junior Kyle Shelton said. “He was always one of those guys that you could just approach and talk to about anything. He always seemed so upbeat about life and about the future.”

After graduating from Juda High School in 2009, Pierce decided to major in general business at UW-Whitewater.

Shelton said Pierce held jobs steadily since middle school.

“He would mow yards in the summer when we were in junior high and was surprisingly good at saving his money for being that young,” Shelton said.

The visitation is scheduled on Thursday from 4 p.m to 8 p.m at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe.

The funeral will take place at noon Friday at the Juda Zion Church in Juda, Wis.
