Carrie Underwood and her positive influence

By Angelic Thompson

Staff Writer

Hi everyone, my name is Angelic Thompson. This is my first semester being a writer for the Lifestyle section. I am a journalism major and I haven’t decided on my minor, but I am leaning toward history.

I got interested in writing for newspapers when I was a junior in high school. When one of my English teachers said I had a talent for writing she asked me if I wanted to take the journalism class and I said sure. Once I started taking that class, I finally knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Now here I am and I am so proud to be a part of something amazing.

Now time to get in to what I love to do on my spare time, listen to music. Music helps me relieve stress and I’m sure I’m not the only one that can say that. Music has always been a part of me because it when I listen I can just be me or be someone I could be. If we didn’t have music our world would be a sad and depressing place. Sometimes we take music for granted. Every week I will talk about a certain song that I love or a song that is popular among adults our age, and describe how it affects me in life or why that certain song is so popular.

We all know that at any moment of the day we could have a song stuck in our head. While I am writing this, Carrie Underwood’s song, “See you Again” has been there all day. Carrie Underwood is my favorite country singer because of the passion she has in her music. “See you Again” has such a powerful message that means so much to me and my family. It is about how someone goes away but we should not be sad because we will see them again. This song makes me think about my father all the time because he is not with me anymore but this brings my hopes up that I will eventually see him in the future. Carrie Underwood’s music always makes me think about how lucky I am, even when I think my life is sucking. I know I could always rely on her music to make me feel better. Music is my life; I do not know how I would live without it.
