Local organizations offer relief assistance

In the midst of devastation, America faces its largest hurricane impacts since Katrina.

Hurricane Harvey hit the heart of Texas, leaving thousands of residents without food, water, and shelter. According to the local SPCA of Texas, thousands of animals have poured shelters, leaving hundreds of homeless animals without food and shelter during the initial impact of the major storm.

The Rock County Humane Society saw the affects of Hurricane Harvey and knew instantly, that they wanted to contribute in the efforts of relief. The Rock County Humane Society contacted local shelters within the “Harvey-Hit” zones, looking for overpopulated shelters that could use some relief.

Nationwide, the American people saw the suffrage of innocent people and animals, knowing that even the smallest of help could make a range of impacts.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Texas agreed to expand the shelter’s efforts of finding homeless animals homes as well as accepting hundreds of pounds of food for local sheltered animals.

“We just wanted to show our support for our furry friends and their families in Texas,” local Rock County Humane Society (RCHS) said. “The efforts of the RCHS have really been quite extensive, and I couldn’t be more proud of living in a community that looks to help other communities who are going through hardships such like Hurricane Harvey.”
