Police services conduct active threat scenario training

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Police Services will host officers from the Delavan Police Department to conduct active threat scenario training in Hyland Hall on Jan. 16 and 17.

An announcement that training would be conducted was initially made in a news release to the entire campus that was sent out Tuesday morning. Specific times of the training were not released.

UW-W Police Services said the training scenarios will take place on the first and second floors of Hyland Hall.

Assistant Chief of UW-W Police Services Matthew Schwartz said university officers will be participating in the training alongside officers from Delavan.

Students, faculty and the surrounding public might hear the sound of rounds being fired, but police said these are practice shots for the purpose of training, according to the news release.
