Habitat for Humanity seeks spring break assistance

My name is Evan Bernd and this year I am planning UW-Whitewater’s Habitat For Humanity’s Spring Break service trip. Every year, UWW Habitat For Humanity has a Spring Break trip where we send 35-40 students to help volunteer in different communities across the country. We spend the week helping to build homes for families in need. We help paint, do framing, do yard work, put up the roof, work on siding, and many more tasks focused around building a home. Recently we have gone to Laurel Delaware, Winston-Salem North Carolina, and Birmingham Alabama to support hard-working families across the U.S.

This year, we will be volunteering in Laredo, Texas where we will spend our Spring Break, March 21-March 28. We are seeking student volunteers and advisors to serve with us. We would love to have 20 students fill our trip and team to make this build happen. Throughout the trip, the students will receive 20 volunteer hours, make a ton of new friends, gain experience through the different types of construction work, and is a great addition to your resume. The cost of the trip is only $450 and covers all travel, meals, and donations to building the home. You can fundraise all or part of the trip. Students have been selling raffle tickets, volunteering with “Hire-A-Habitator” and collecting donations. Raising funds can be easy with a little bit of hard work!

Please consider donating your time to join us! We are also seeking adult volunteers from the UW-Whitewater campus or community to join in the build. “The Excitement is Building!!” Advisors help plan logistics of travel and serve along students to build homes. This is a life-changing experience that always changes lives and leaves a BIG impact on our students and UW-Whitewater’s Habitat for Humanity is also seeking donations. We are in need of financial contributions and items for our raffle. If you would like to donate, email me at [email protected]. We can then workout what payment method works best for you. As of right now, our organization is in need of donations to help fund our trip. If its possible, we are asking those to help donate to our trip to send our students down to Texas to help change the lives of many families.

Thank you all for taking the time to read about our service trip opportunity. We love what we do in Habitat and want to spread the word about what our Mission Statement means to us.
