Decadent dessert: chocolate-dipped strawberries


1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

½ cup white chocolate chips

2 tbsp. shortening

1 lb. strawberries


Double boiler

(if you don’t have a double boiler, a deep saucepan and small pot will work)

rubber spatula

wire whisk

wax paper

  1. Use a double-boiler to melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips

If you don’t have a double-boiler:

  1. fill deep saucepan half full of water
  2. set smaller pot inside saucepan
  3. bring water to a rapid boil
  4. once water is boiling, turn heat to low
  5. place shortening into pot
  6. once melted, pour chocolate chips into pot
  7. allow chocolate chips to melt, stirring frequently

After chocolate melts:

  1. dip strawberries half into chocolate chips, place on wax paper
  2. repeat melting instructions for white chocolate chips
  3. dip tip of wire whisk into white chocolate and drizzle over chocolate-covered strawberries
