This first week of November we celebrate the start of the student-run newspaper at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Now 124 years since its founding, there’s still much to celebrate, support and be excited about for The Royal Purple.
In these tumultuous times, the campus newspaper stands for the ideals of free speech guaranteed through the First Amendment. The staff of 35 student media workers continue to need community support to run a small business that provides content through commerce. And there’s so much opportunity for both journalistic and business growth in areas of multimedia, articles and advertising. It really is an exciting time for journalism now on the cusp of wrapping up this new century’s first quarter.
The student staff of the Royal Purple work so hard to provide such an important service to audiences in the greater Whitewater area. Let’s have some cake and celebrate a job well done!
