Dave Matthews Band: “Away From the World”

The members of Dave Matthews Band are releasing their new album titled “Away From the World” on Sept. 11.

This will be the band’s eighth studio album, and it will be the first released since their 2009 album titled “Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King,” which is a dedication to the band’s late saxophone player LeRoi Moore, who died in an all-terrain vehicle accident in 2008.

“Away from the World” features 11 songs, including “Mercy,” which was released earlier this year on July 16.

The song incorporates the classic, intricate drumming style of Carter Beauford and the rich, raspy voice of Dave Matthews to create a beautiful song that makes listeners question the progression of the human race.

With the lyrics,“’Cause crime won’t save or feed a hungry child. Can’t lay down and wait for a miracle to change things,” Matthews is bringing the true problems of the world into view and urging a proactive attitude.

Keeping with the theme of world peace and change, the band is also releasing a song titled “Gaucho.”

The Latin-inspired song echoes the chorus of, “We gotta do much more than believe if we really wanna change things. We gotta do much more than believe if we wanna see the world change.”

In the middle of the song, Matthews actually begs listeners to, “Please wake up,” and see the world’s struggles.

With the release date set for Sept. 11, one can only wonder if this date was chosen on purpose to amplify the band’s message of urgency for world peace.

“I love this album,” Boyd Tinsley, the band’s violinist, posted on Twitter. “It came out of a very special and creative studio session.”

A deluxe edition of the album will be released accompanied by a DVD and a 2012 tour photo book.

The band is also offering incentives for fans who pre-order the album. Fans who are members of “The Warehouse,” Dave Matthews Band’s official fan association, can pre-order the album to include a disc with five or eight bonus songs. Additional songs include live versions of “Save Me” and “Jimi Thing.”
