SEAL offers students dance club environment

In order to give students a safe alternative to drinking and partying, SEAL will host a free club night this Thursday.

“Students love the dance environment,” SEAL intern Katelyn Wurtz said. “We thought we’d offer that club environment that you can only get if you pay so much money to go. It is a free event.”

Tommy Jewell, a disc jockey on campus, will DJ the event as he has in years prior.

SEAL entertainment intern Glenn Carson says his biggest challenge in setting up the night club was choosing a well-rounded variety of music for the event.

“I didn’t want [the event] to [play] just my taste in music,” he said.

Wurtz said the playlist will include a wide range of hits from different genres, from rap to hip-hop to line dancing songs.

The students can also make requests to the DJ.

SEAL’s motivation for the night club is to encourage students to enjoy a safe alternative to drinking and partying every weekend by offering these alcohol-free events.

“We want opportunities for those students who aren’t people that want to go out and party to have something to do on the weekends instead of sitting in their dorms,” Wurtz said.

Students may come to the night club dressed as they want. There is no dress code for the event.

Due to the strict no-alcohol policy, no food or beverages are allowed in the club. However, students may still eat in the Down Under.
