`Hawks win fourth title in past five years

Unlike the last six seasons, defense proved to be the theme of the game this season as the Warhawks won their third consecutive Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl and their fourth in the last five years- all against Mount Union. The Warhawks stopped the Purple Raiders with just two minutes left in the game to secure a 13-10 victory, which increased the ’Hawks NCAA-best win streak to 45 games.

It wasn’t the game we all expected, but in the end, the No. 1 ranked Warhawk football team won its third straight NCAA Division-III National Title Friday night after defeating No. 2 Mount Union, 13-10.

The women’s soccer team ended its NCAA Tournament run Friday, falling 4-1 to Wheaton College in the Sweet 16. Regardless of the loss, the Warhawks made history this season.

It is not often the UW-Whitewater football team is tested throughout an entire game, but in Saturday’s matchup between the top two teams in the WIAC, the game was decided on a late field goal by Eric Kindler, which gave the Warhawks a 20-17 edge.
