The men’s soccer team began the 2011 season 0-4 and now that same team is heading to the NCAA Tournament after winning its third-consecutive WIAC Championship.
Heading into the last week of conference play, Head Coach Greg Henschel said the Warhawks have placed themselves in the perfect position going into the WIAC Tournament.
After starting the season 0-4, the Warhawks’ two seniors, midfielder Ryan Boyd and forward Kevin Kron, stepped up to lead the team to six consecutive wins. The men will look to make it seven straight tonight at 7 p.m. against North Park University on the Vikings’ field.
Last season, the men’s soccer team finished its season 14-2-4 after bowing out of the NCAA tournament in the round of 16. The team is also the two-time, defending WIAC champions, and the National Soccer Coaches of America Association preseason poll had the team ranked No. 13 in the nation.
