Cost Cutters, located at 1139 W. Main St., remodeled its store three weeks ago, spending roughly $40,000 to upgrade its facilities.
The project began on Jan. 31 and ended Feb. 10, closing business for 10 days.
“It did affect business, but we came back strong,” salon manager Ileia Becker said.
The entire salon was remodeled with the exception of the back room and the ceiling.
“The architect shifted the layout and made it more practical,” Becker said. “The arrangement is pretty much the same though.”
Becker said the most significant change was the switch from gray tiling to hardwood floor.
The salon includes nine hair cutting stations and three shampoo bowls. Two color bar stations were also added during the remodel.
Cost Cutters not only offers hair-cutting services, but also coloring, highlighting, waxing, up-dos and perm services.
Discount haircuts are offered on Tuesdays and many other deals, including punch cards and Internet coupons, are available for the community, Becker said.
Becker said she believes the remodeling has not hurt the business as much as it has helped.
“I think the remodeling has brought some sort of camaraderie,” Becker said. “It’s a new store, new attitude.”
