Hart has been playing flute since the age of 10, but has been performing since high school. She is also involved in Wind Ensemble and Orchestra, in which she has performed at UW-Whitewater for both.
Hark said she has stuck with the flute because she has a lot of fun playing it.
“I had taken piano lessons and knew I that I really liked music,” Hart said. “But I thought I’d try something different.”
Hart is really looking forward to showcasing her talents at Sunday’s recital.
“I’m just excited to play all the music that I’ve been working on,” Hart said.
Hart’s set list will include: “Sonata in E Major” by Bach, a duet with her roommate Alyssa Van Lanen titled, “Maya” by Ian Clarke, “Three Romances” by Robert Schumann and a sonata for flute and piano.
Hart, a flute performance major, is influenced by her wind ensemble conductor, Professor Hayes.
“He really pushes us to do our best and he doesn’t take anything under excellent,” Hart said.
Hart is passionate about student’s who are musicians and those who want to start picking up an instrument.
Although she has been playing the flute for 11 years, she said it is never too late to pick up and start learning to play an instrument.
“Stick to it no matter how hard it might be because it’s worth it,” Hart said.
She is very excited to not only perform by herself, but Hart is also anticipating being able to perform with her roommate Van Lanen and her accompanist Sue Renkas.
“It will be really exciting; there will be cake afterwards,” Hart said.
