Senior kicker Jeff Schebler was selected last week as one of the 10 finalists for the Gagliardi Trophy, Division III’s most prestigious award.
“That’s a real accomplishment for me,” Schebler said.
Fans can vote for Schebler by going to D3football.com.
Voting ends Dec. 7 and the winner will be introduced prior to the national championship game in Salem, Va., on Dec. 17.
Schebler, a three-time All-American, is the NCAA points leader in all divisions.
Former UW-Whitewater running back Justin Beaver won the award in 2007 and Ryan Kleppe, a former Warhawk defensive tackle, was nominated in 2006.
“To follow in their foot steps, it’s quite an accomplishment,” Schebler said. “Hopefully, [I’ll] win it like Beaver did.”
The award is based on excellence in athletics, academic and community service.
Schebler is a multi-year member of the national honor society and is involved within the Fellowship of Christian Athletes leadership team and volunteers at the Hadley School for the Blind in Janesville, Wis.
