The Royal Purple believes that Kevin Bullis is the man for the Warhawks head football job. Amy Edmonds would make a grave mistake letting Bullis leave the program after he chose to stay.
Even if he stayed on, or got an expanded role, it would be awkward for the players knowing Bullis applied for the head coaching position. Everyone knows that the ’Hawks have championship level players, and they should give them the best chance possible to win the national championship.
Bullis was the only coach to circulate a detailed plan of attack to the public that documents recruiting efforts, community service opportunities, fundraising, goals, and to trust the process. He has done an admirable job keeping the current players on a training program and showing recruits the ins and outs of Warhawks football as interim head coach.
He has a detailed knowledge of the schools that the ’Hawks recruit out of and has earned the trust of the current players.
He could have left UW-Whitewater with Lance Leipold, but he decided to stay and spearhead the program in the future, which is something that should give him a huge leg up on his competition.
The ’Hawks defense has been at or near the top of the country ever since Bullis has been around. Much of that can be attributed to former defensive coordinator Brian Borland, but the defensive line was an integral part of the ’Hawks success during their championship runs.
The WIAC should be a top D-III conference once again, and he has the most experience coaching WIAC football, starting in 1995.
Bullis won the RP’s affection with his loving story of how many D-I coaches are envious of D-III coaches because of the love of the players. The players already love him if they are winning championships with him. So why not give the job?
