Community members can grab a costume and family and friends for some Halloween fun in Downtown Whitewater on Oct. 31, 2015.
The annual Trick or Treat the Triangle event started six years ago with help from Tami Brodnicki, executive of Downtown Whitewater, Inc.
Families weren’t going downtown as much as Brodnicki wanted and in order to engage more families in the downtown area, the event was created. Trick or Treat the Triangle is a starting point for families and anyone else to get involved in the community.
Many businesses surrounding the Triangle will hand out candy and open their doors to all in the community from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. These businesses include Quiet Hut Sports, FrameDog Framing and Gifts, Fink Ink Tattoo and Body Piercing and more.
Josh Moye, first-year owner of Fink Ink located at 141 W. Main St, will participate in the event and plans to next year. Moye was asked to participate by Brodnicki and said he wants to give back to the community.
“I’d like to participate in the city as much as I possibly can while I’m here,” Moye said.
Trick or Treat the Triangle is a family based event, with activities for all ages starting at 4 p.m. and ending at 6 p.m.
Participants can get lost in a maze, carve and decorate pumpkins, join in a costume contest, listen to music, bounce in a bouncy house and decorate cookies. Many activities are planned to participate in such as Paint the Squares, where anyone can paint a four-by-four square with a Halloween theme for the community to see.
“It’s a family event, everybody is just having fun,” Brodnicki said.
The entire event allows families to engage in the trick or treat and the activities as a family rather than dropping off the children and doing everything separately, Brodnicki said. Even for a spooky holiday like Halloween Brodnicki says the goal is bringing families together for this event.
Everyone in the community is encouraged to attend Trick or Treat the Triangle to have fun and learn about the local businesses in Downtown Whitewater.
