When it comes to politics, I identify as a Democrat. If I had to guess, I’d say I agree with 80 to 85 percent of liberal philosophies. 

I believe climate change is a big threat to our future, I think we need tougher and stricter gun laws and I’m against the death penalty.

I’m 24 years old and have always voted democratic. I voted for President Barack Obama in 2012 and voted against Gov. Scott Walker three separate times. Never did I think I would ever entertain the thought of voting for a conservative, but then the primaries started for the 2016 presidential election, and my rock-solid stance started to crumble.

John Kasich is a Republican who I wouldn’t mind seeing in office. If it’s somehow Kasich against Hillary Clinton, I’m voting for Kasich, despite my voting record. Of the four remaining Republican presidential candidates, Kasich is the only one who has acted like a human being.

While Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio continue to fire insults and comebacks that remind me of 5-year-old bullies on a playground, Kasich has refused to get sucked into their embarrassing game. He has shown respect and dignity, and has actually proven that he has the experience to be the next Commander in Chief by laying out a coherent plan.

Kasich is ready and willing to work with Democrats across the aisle. He realizes the importance of bipartisanship. Republicans can’t do it by themselves. Democrats can’t do it by themselves. It takes a collective effort to run a country. Kasich is smart enough to understand that – something that can’t be said of his peers.

Meanwhile, Trump is trying to turn the United States into the Divided States. He’s been too busy calling Rubio “little Marco” and talking about his hand-size (if you know what I mean). He has yet to say anything with real substance.

Trump is like a Fetty Wap song. He says a lot of crap that doesn’t make sense, but people listen to him because it’s entertaining – despite the fact listening is making you dumber and dumber.

Voting for Trump isn’t funny anymore, guys. Sure, it got a few laughs at first, but now we should be scared out of our minds. If Trump is elected president, I wouldn’t be surprised if our country was involved in three world wars in the first five minutes of his presidency. Yeah, that’s right; three world wars. It sounds insane and impossible, but Trump is insane and impossible.

Kasich is the only Republican candidate who would make a respectable president. Yes, there are numerous issues on which Kasich and I disagree. But Democrats, like me, enjoy Kasich because he’s open-minded.

It’s really a shame more Republicans aren’t voting for him in the primaries. I’m currently on the Bernie Sanders train, but the way things have been going, it doesn’t look like he’ll be the Democratic nominee. If somehow, someway the two candidates end up being Kasich and Clinton, you can label me a Republican in 2016.
