Magic show draws larger crowd of students

Nearly every seat was filled in the UC Down Under to see magician Steven Brundage Nov. 9.
Brundage, a semi-finalist on America’s Got Talent in 2016, performed his Rubik’s Cube routine. A compilation video of his Rubik’s Cube acts has collected more than 20 million views on YouTube.
“I saw him on America’s Got Talent, so I was so excited when I found out he was going to be here,” junior Ryan Schultz said.
Schultz, who was also a volunteer for one of Brundage’s magic tricks, said he knew he was going to get on stage. He said he didn’t know how, but he was “determined to do it.”
Apart from his popular Rubik’s Cube acts, Brundage also performed card and rope tricks. A memory trick in which he appeared to memorize three books, one of which included “The Notebook,” a 1994 romantic novel.
UC Entertainment Assistant Marissa Porn, a senior, said she knew the event would draw a large audience. Comedians and magicians typically draw more attention than other events in the UC, Porn said.
“I thought it wasn’t a typical magic show,” junior Mia Villarreal said. “It was really good. It was definitely one of the most entertaining acts I’ve seen at the UC.”
