Org of the week: Active Minds

The Royal Purple sat down with Kelsey Pacetti, the 2019-2020 president of Active Minds UW-W to ask a few questions about the organization.

RP: What is the goal of the org?

We are dedicated to saving lives and to building stronger families and communities. Through education, research, advocacy and a focus on students and young adults ages 14 – 25, Active Minds is opening up the conversation about mental health and creating lasting change in the way mental health is talked about, cared for and valued in the United States.

RP: Why did you become a part of it?

I love being a mental health advocate and being a part of ending the stigma surrounding mental health. I enjoy creating a community and a safe place for those struggling on campus. I also really enjoy sharing my personal mental health story even when it’s difficult.

RP: How have you seen this org make a difference?

More students have joined and I believe it has helped students feel less alone and it has helped students speak up and realize that it is okay not to be okay. Send Silence Packing made a huge impact on our campus.
