The 2020 spring hawk career fair took place inside the Hamilton Room at the James R. Connor University Center in February 2020.

Graduation time is here. As our last class of 2020 leaves us and heads into the working world of adulthood, there are many job opportunities on the horizon. Over 245,000 jobs were added to the U.S. economy in November, along with a decrease in unemployment down to 6.7 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor and Statitistcs. With a curveball thrown at the world known as COVID-19, new and out of the ordinary jobs are trending like crazy.

One of the top trending jobs this year is nursing, which is projected to keep growing in coming years. With the global pandemic, nurses as well as doctors are at an all-time high when it comes to needing more workers in this field. Freshly graduated nursing majors, go get those scrubs and save lives.

Another trending job that has made its way into 2020 is…well…trendsetters. Social media saw its peak in 2020 with TikTok becoming bigger than ever. Social media influencers have now found so many other ways to make money other than being “sponsored” with new creator fund inclusions through TikTok and Snapchat based on views and followers. If you’re one of the social media experts in all things trending, this might be the perfect job for you. Jobs in media and communication are on the rise.

Last but not least, business and business entrepreneurship is also trending like crazy during 2020. With the praise and support from communities, local businesses have been trending rather than to go to your normal chain venue. Evelyn Aguayo, 20, started her nail salon business in June 2020 and has seen nothing but success.

“I have always loved getting my nails done since I was 11-years-old. I decided in January of 2020 to begin learning how to do them. From January to June I was practicing nonstop, and then I finally found the courage to take clients. Ever since then I’ve been booked every single week,” Aguayo said.

Nursing majors, media majors, business majors, and even those who are still not sure – there are plenty of trending jobs in store for you. With crazy 2020 coming to a close soon, snatch up these opportunities for a trending job before the market takes another turn.
