The Warhawk volleyball team will be hosting a benefit this weekend to help support a former teammate.

Former UW-Whitewater student Lisa Panici was diagnosed in January 2011 with stage-four brain cancer.

Panici was a member of the 2010 Warhawk volleyball team.

The Warhawk volleyball team will be hosting the “Dig Panici” event Friday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Kris Russell Volleyball Arena located in UW-Whitewater’s Williams Center.

T-shirts and Warhawk SillyBandz will be for sale at the event.

The main event of the evening will be the Warhawks match against St. Olaf College.

The event , sponsored by Greenhouse Coffee Company, will  include a 50/50 raffle, pictures with Willie Warhawk, give-a-ways throughout the course of the game, and post match autographs with members of the 2011 Warhawk volleyball team.
