What to eat for a non-meat Thanksgiving
November 20, 2022
The vegetarian diet has been growing in popularity over the years. As we approach Thanksgiving, it might be difficult to come up with non-meat dishes. The words “vegetarian Thanksgiving” might seem to be an oxymoron, but it is still possible to create a delicious dinner without the use of meat products.
Before we get into the meat and potatoes of the meal, let’s talk about sides. A hearty, creamy soup would hit the spot as a Thanksgiving side. Why not try out this pumpkin soup to fill that craving? Pumpkin in general is a Fall classic, as is squash. Try out this mouth-watering stuffed butternut squash recipe. It’s similar to a stuffed bell pepper, but squash is definitely more on theme.
There are Thanksgiving staples that just so happen to be vegetarian-friendly – for example: cranberry sauce. This particular dish incorporates lemon and pomegranate, which adds a punch of flavor. Onion dip is another staple for Thanksgiving because of its versatility. It can be used as a dip for chips, vegetables, bread, and many more items.
Plant-based meatloaf mainly consists of a variety of vegetables, bread crumbs, and mushrooms. Another main dish idea would be vegetable lasagna. This one looks incredibly appetizing, and it’s made with mostly vegetables and cheese! Try out these brussels sprouts and sweet potato hand pies as a replacement for chicken pot pies, and you will never crave the original again.
