Dear Esteemed Warhawks,
Greetings and welcome back to the vibrant community of Whitewater! As you step into this new academic year, I’d like to take a moment to express my sincerest hope for each one of you. My greatest aspiration is that you view our city and government as partners in your journey, working collaboratively to propel you toward excellence both now and in the years to come.
Your success is intricately intertwined with the success of Whitewater. We are elated that you have chosen to be a part of our community, and we eagerly anticipate the remarkable contributions you will make during your time here. From classrooms to boardrooms, from projects to initiatives, your journey is our journey.
As you embark on this new academic year, we encourage you to explore the countless opportunities that the City of Whitewater has to offer. For information about our wonderful city, be sure to visit our website and connect with us on Facebook and Instagram. Our doors are open from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, ready to assist you with a range of needs such as registering to vote, obtaining a bartender’s license, paying utility bills, and more.
We are delighted to share that the City of Whitewater has had the privilege of hosting several UW students as interns over the past year, and we’re eagerly looking forward to continuing this valuable partnership in 2024. Keep an eye out for information on opportunities to gain hands-on experience within local government, possibly even earning college credit in the process.
Your presence here is an integral part of our community’s vitality. The Common Council and Community Development Authority are working diligently to attract new businesses, breathing new life into our downtown area. Exciting developments await, including the arrival of Starbucks, ALDI, and the prospect of a local grocery co-op finding its home in our downtown district next year.
Your living experience matters to us. We are committed to providing quality housing options that cater to students, young professionals, families, and retirees alike. We hope that the bonds you form during your time here will encourage you to consider Whitewater as a place to continue thriving even after graduation.
We’re proud of our partnership with UWW on the Innovation Center. This collaboration expands opportunities for budding entrepreneurs, business startups, and creative thinkers, all focused on innovating for the betterment of Whitewater.
We are committed to promoting health and balance in our community. The Discover Whitewater Series 5K and Half Marathon commences in a few days. This event not only allows for students, community members, and visitors to explore our beautiful city, but to do so by showing their commitment to health.
Exciting events lie ahead on our calendar! Look forward to participating in events like Pride Fest in October, as well as the Wisconsin Summer Special Olympics hosted on campus. These moments of unity and celebration remind us of the strength of diversity and inclusion.
Together, we can make a difference in our community. Our commitment to fostering connections with fraternities and sororities remains strong, as we eagerly seek innovative ways to engage in volunteerism and fundraising. The annual “Make a Difference Day” is just one example of how we can come together to enact positive change.
With hope, positivity, and an unwavering dedication to diversity and inclusion, we invite you to embrace the range of opportunities the city offers during your time here. May your journey be marked by academic success, personal growth, and a lasting impact on the Whitewater community. Remember, your presence contributes to the thriving experience of all, both during your student years and long after.
Welcome back, Warhawks. Let’s soar to new heights together.
