Award-winning saxophonist Randall Hall is going to showcase his “high-octane, supercharged sax,” according to Innova Recordings.

“Randy is a great saxophonist and performer,” Associate Professor Matt Sintchak said. “Even if his music seems ‘foreign,’ the audience will still be able to appreciate his expert command for the saxophone. Randy will be featuring several of his own compositions on the program.”

Hall will be performing modern contemporary music in the Light Recital Hall in the Center of the Arts on campus. According to his website, he has played in a variety of performances around North America, Asia and Europe.

While Hall is in Whitewater, he will also be holding a workshop for students. The event will be free for all students and take place at 9:55 p.m. on Nov. 9 in room 1003 in the Center of the Arts.

According to the Saxophone Journal, “Randall Hall is truly the master of the saxophone … his interpretive skills are superb … an excellent soloist and saxophonist. He is an incredible technician and an artist on the saxophone.”

Hall has received multiple honors in his field including a Fullbright Grant, Frank Huntington Beebe Grant, Presser Music Award and the Premier prix in the Concour Region Ile-de-France.

He is currently an assistant professor of music at Augustana College in Illinois. Hall teaches saxophone, improvisation, music theory and liberal studies.

The performance will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 8 in the Light Recital Hall in the Center of the Arts.
