It’s the time of year when my Facebook and Instagram feeds are filled with “1st day of” photos. Proud family members and friends share snapshots of smiling elementary school kids, slightly annoyed teenagers, and even full-time adult educators as they head off to face another year. This photo on the left is one of my all-time favorite “1st day of” images. Whether you are the type of person who feels equipped to face the first day back just wearing bright colors and a smile, or you are the type that requires a full-on super suit to get you through, I wish you all the best on day one!
While first day’s can be scary, exhausting, and overwhelming, they are also a chance to start fresh, set new goals, and embrace new challenges. I am always a little sad when summer ends, my plants begin to die, the days grow shorter, and the nights cooler. And yet, for those of us in education, Fall is a new beginning as much as it is an ending, and there are so many new possibilities to look forward to. Thus, I plan to embrace the adventure (just as soon as I pull on my super suit).
