At UW-Whitewater’s Rock County campus, students gathered around to connect and join clubs and organizations at the Upper Allen Hall and Hyatt Smith Commons.
Rock County-specific clubs and organizations from the main campus joined in to be a part of the involvement fair. Clubs ranged from the Black Student Union, Latinos Unidos, Engineering Club, and more.
Students showed a positive response to the fair, as they were able to have an easy chance to network and take a break from classes. The fair showed a larger amount of student participants than previous Rock events.
Rock County Dean of Students Tricia Clasen believes that students should have access to any information about the resources that are available on campus. Clasen believes that events at the Rock County campus will stay small, as most of the organizations at the involvement fair were unique to
the Rock campus.
“Every club that wants to be represented is here and available,” Clasen said. “Folks from the main campus a
re invited to come and showcase what they have available.”
Rock County student Leon Smith liked how it was presented and how others were respectful and outgoing. He said that going to the involvement fair was a good choice. He liked how there was a variety of options for students to be more involved within their time in college.
“Everyone’s boards and posters looked nice,” Smith said. “I think the fair was a good thing to do today.”
With positive student reactions and more opportunities to network, the Rock County campus manages to bring students together at its small but fun campus.
“I like it a lot,” said Rock County student Kyler Shepard. “It’s fun to talk to people [and] kind of get to know them and what else I can do on campus.”
