Cycling has become my favorite way to recharge, especially as a busy college student. Whether I’m spinning along quiet country roads, navigating forested trails on a mountain bike, or training for an upcoming race, hopping on my bike is my go-to escape from the chaos on and off campus.
What I love most about cycling is how it fits everyone’s pace and personality. If you’re looking for something low-key, you can take a casual ride through town or the campus area. If you crave adrenaline, try mountain biking the Kettle Moraine trails or pick up road cycling and push your limits. Some of my best memories of riding come from group rides, like those hosted by 2 Rivers Bicycle or the Tuesday Night Rides with the Kettle Moraine Flyers. I have had the privilege to meet many riders from various backgrounds by attending these rides. Our love to spinning on two wheels is sometimes the only thing we have in common, but that is why we’re out there.
For students such as myself juggling classes, work, and life, cycling offers something rare: a time to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with yourself—or to share a laugh with others on two wheels. It’s more than just exercise; it’s freedom, community, and a reminder that even on the busiest days, there’s always time to enjoy the ride.
