As Groundhog day approaches, UW-W Garden Club is hoping for our favorite groundhog to not see his shadow and for an early spring to come our way. Spring is when gardeners and everyone with a green thumb (or at least who pretends they have one) can start planting. Cucumbers, carrots, broccoli, and other vegetables are some of the first things planted, as well as some beautiful flowers, like lilies, dahlias, and marigolds. An earlier spring can mean a longer planting season and provides an opportunity for students to get more involved with the Campus Garden, which opens on Make A Difference Day, April 25th. We are excited to start the planting season as the weather warms up, so hopefully Phil doesn’t see his shadow!
Hoping for spring
