Greek Life is celebrated all academic year around UW-Whitewater’s campus; however, this year, March is the month of Greek Week, which highlights the community. This year, Greek Week ran from March 10 to 14 with the theme ‘Game On! The Ultimate Greek Reality Competition.’
The week is full of events and activities for Greek members to participate in such as the annual talent show, where each Greek organization shows off their dance moves for those in attendance. The main and final challenge of the week was the ‘Amazing Race,’ which crowns the winners of Greek Week 2025. The week is seen as one of the biggest weeks for Greek Life and holds much pride for those involved.
“Greek week is a chance to celebrate ourselves and create a sense of unity,” said Ryan Lewandowski, a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and one of the Greek Interns.
The week is full of games where each Greek organization competes for points that will declare a winner at the end of the week. Notoriously, it has been known similarly as the “homecoming week for Greek Life.” Planning for this week begins right after the conclusion of homecoming week in the fall. The Greek Week committee then proceeds to meet every Friday, to create games and test them out.
“It is a special experience, it is such a good time to get together with your chapter,” Lewandowski said.
Greek Week’s goal is to unite and bring positivity through the Greek community at UW-W.
“Greek Life here at Whitewater affects each person differently,” said Ashton Gillespie, president of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. “Still, consistency across all organizations is the drive for bettering people for a better world by using shared ideals and values.”

The week brings light to all that Greek communities do and are a part of throughout the entire year.
“Greek Life provides a community within a community,” Gillespie said.
The week recognizes the Greek community now and many campus leaders, currently and historically, who have been members of the Whitewater Greek community. All 24 separate Greek organizations on campus participate in the week regardless of their respective counsel.
“We all understand what it means to be Greek and what it means to be a leader. Further, every year, each organization gives hundreds of hours of community service back to the campus and the greater community of Whitewater,” said Gillespie.
The week brings pride while also incorporating fun competition into the community. “Being a senior, Greek Week is my favorite time of year and I’m going to be very sad to leave it,” said Sarah Castelli, the Greek Week representative of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. “Some goals are to win, but the main goal is to connect our chapters with one another.”
Greek Week and Greek Life are all about the community they build, what they do for the communities outside of Greek Life, and how they build each other up to become the best versions of themselves they can be. Regardless of who collects the most points at the end of the week, it was very apparent the true victory is the brotherhood, sisterhood and overall community that is created along the way.
“It brings something different for every single person, for me it brings huge personal development, Greek Life changed everything for me, it gave me a sense of belonging and I hear this from so many people in Greek Life, it gives you the opportunity to become the best version of yourself,” Lewandowski said.
The winner of the 2025 ‘Game On Greek Week’ was the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.
