Whitewater families made a splash at the Whitewater Aquatic and Fitness Center Saturday morning of April 12 during the center’s second ever water Easter egg hunt – a unique and playful twist on the spring time tradition. From 10 a.m. to noon on April 12, kids had the chance to meet and take pictures with the Easter bunny, dive into the pool to gather as many colorful eggs as possible and then trade in those eggs for fun prizes donated by Sam’s Club.
“I like getting eggs,” said 6 year old Athena smiling while accompanied by her parents.

The event was fun for the whole family, with older kids joining in on the celebration too. “I really like the prizes,” said 11 year old Tempe Scaro, who, with her brother, had already turned in their eggs.
This year’s event featured over 400 eggs floating in the pool, drawing in an enthusiastic crowd of families eager for a bit of weekend fun. Some parents watched from the sidelines snapping photos for memories, and others were in the pool with the little ones as they splashed and searched.
Megan Groen, manager of the Whitewater Aquatic and Fitness Center, said their goal is to offer something new, unique and exciting to the community.
“It’s something newer to the area, and we’re trying to come up with different programs that aren’t really offered anywhere else,” Groen said. “The community deserves to have something fun and affordable to do on a weekend.”
The Whitewater Aquatic and Fitness Center is always brainstorming new and exciting activities they can host in water, as that’s one of the things that makes them different from other Whitewater community spaces.
As the event wrapped up, kids left with arms full of prizes, their hair wet from the pool, and wide smiles – proof that the Whitewater Aquatic and Fitness Center succeeded in its holiday planning yet again.
With the event being a hit with children and parents alike, the center hopes to continue bringing more creative family-friendly opportunities like this to the Whitewater community in the future, strengthening their already profound relationship with the city and the families that live in it.
