As the saying goes “time does fly when you are having fun,” and I had a lot of fun these past four years at UW-Whitewater. Whether it be the small town feel of the Whitewater community and campus, the amount of nature to be seen all around us or the warm welcome from professors – since day one at UW-Whitewater it has always felt like the right match for me.
As I’m getting ready to graduate this spring, it’s a good time to look back and reflect on what I have done on campus these past four years. I reflect on what has given me a positive college experience and what has added to my growth as a person. Even though my personality type is more introverted, I knew that I needed to be a part of something on campus to build connections with my fellow college attendees, and to be a part of something that excited me. Now looking back I’m grateful to have found and joined the campus newspaper, Royal Purple. I have a passion for photography, and being a photographer for the Royal Purple was a great opportunity to expand my knowledge and experience with photography. It allowed me to meet and connect with people who have similar interests as mine. During the four years at the Royal Purple, I have made some lasting friendships and lasting memories that I will always cherish.
Other than photography I have a passion for sports, so throughout these four years I have also participated in multiple intramural sports leagues on campus such as badminton, softball and basketball. Being a part of an organization such as the Royal Purple and intramural sports leagues has given me a good balance between schoolwork and fun.
I would also like to shout out and thank you to the College of Business and Economics (CoBE). As a marketing major in business, CoBE provided plenty of resources, tools and opportunities for me to grow, learning in the marketing field and business in general. One reason I chose UW-Whitewater is because it has a top ranked business school, and they showed that throughout my four years here. I would highly recommend anyone interested in majoring in the business field to have UW-Whitewater as their top school choice.
Therefore, for any current college student or future college students reading this, my senior advice for you is to find and join some type of organization or activity on campus that interests you. Find something that can give you time away from the stresses of classes and class work. Get yourself out there and make lasting friendships and memories!
