Gov. Scott Walker’s proposed Budget Repair Bill has caused uproar across the state. Schools have been cancelled. Protests have been plentiful and the more than 18,000 people have flocked to the Capitol in Madison this week.
Law enforcement has also been called in today to search for democrat senators who are boycotting the bill and have not reported to the senate chamber.
The P.E.A.C.E. organization at UW-Whitewater has joined the efforts in displaying their dislike for Walker’s proposed bill, as they will hold a gathering at 12:30 p.m. near the University Center’s Fiskum Gallery.
The leaders of P.E.A.C.E. have asked that everyone who is against this bill support them and come to the UC today. They have also asked anyone who comes to wear red in support of public education, something the bill would drastically affect.
The entire UW System will also hold a state-wide walk out at 12:30 p.m. to protest the bill.
We will have more on this developing story and photos from today’s events later.
