The mind is always driven by thoughts, but have you ever witnessed what an open and free mind can do? That is where hypnotism makes its statement.
Live at the Hamilton room at the University Center, Sailesh the Hypnotist made his debut Sept. 11 at 7 p.m., leaving a spectacular show for all to see. He brought his amazing hypnotist skills to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for all to witness.
“Only 20 people can be on the stage,” Sailesh said. “If you guys want to experience being hypnotized, then come and get it.”
The audience was itching with anticipation, ready on his command to join him on stage. When the opportunity arose, they rushed out of their seats, racing one another, pushing each other out of the way to claim one of the limited seats on stage to be the star of the night.
The performance kicked off with a deep state of relaxation, letting the audience see what an open mind can truly achieve with a world of imagination and creative storytelling. Sailesh utilized his creativity with the students to present the audience with a series of random events, ranging from the illusion of a volunteer’s belt being a snake with a mere hissing sound to having the students reveal their inner quirky superpowers.
Each volunteer revealed their creative heroic powers, from reading the thoughts of others, to climbing walls, making intense origami, summoning tigers at free will, clucking like a chicken, communicating with frogs with the majestic frog call, creating fists of fire, to creating the world’s delicious sandwiches and lastly the power to turn into an appetizing cheeseburger.
Sailesh encouraged many of the audience members to participate in the show, by having them cheer and clap for the volunteers as the performance went on. Sailesh had them tap their feet along with the river dancing, accompanied by a background of celtic music, showcasing the hidden talent found within the stars of the night.

“I absolutely love working with the students,” Sailesh said. “There was one point in time, just almost before COVID, where I started getting tired of touring and everything else, but once COVID hit, I realized that, so I cherish every show every time I am out performing.”
While showcasing the musical talent, Sailesh had four of the volunteers do a mock interview for babysitting. He made them believe they were super nervous to be interviewed, making them stutter with their words, curse uncontrollably, and raise their voices with such intensity. This act made the audience gasp in astonishment and scream in excitement, while others were filled to the brim with laughter.
As the show came to an end, Sailesh was keeping his upbeat and engaging energy with the audience members. While reassuring the people on stage that they would feel relaxed and refreshed as the sun rose on a new day. While having kept that hidden talent, they showcased it on stage in front of everyone who attended.
“They were the stars of the show,” Sailesh said.
