Living in a lounge room isn’t as bad as you might think, but it also isn’t as good as you might think. Sleeping in a room with four people means you’re bound to have at least one that has to get up at the crack of dawn every day and also must make sure he slams as many drawers and drops as many water bottles and phones as loud as possible. The thing that also stands out about lounge rooms is that nobody asked to live in one, and many individuals, including the ones I live with, were not told they were going to be living in one either. It wasn’t my first choice as well, however if I wanted to live in a dorm with my friend, it was either this or a waitlist, which we still haven’t been taken off of at the time of writing.
There are some positive things about it, however, they are the only rooms in the Wells towers with air conditioning, but that won’t even matter in a few weeks because of the weather. Probably the one positive thing about a lounge room, to quote the movie Stepbrothers, is that there is a lot more room for activities. Other than that, living in a lounge is a subpar at best experience with too few positives and too many negatives, especially since living in a regular dorm already couldn’t compare to most people’s rooms at home. All of the negatives associated with living in a two-person dorm are multiplied, and the improvement of space is only able to be enjoyed in short bursts.
