The Warhawks defeated Salisbury University 34-14 Saturday and will host St. Thomas University (Minn.) Saturday with times to be announced.
Facing the No. 1 ranked offense in Division-III (D3Sports.com), the ‘Hawks held the Sea Gulls to 293 yards total offense, while senior running back Levell Coppage rushed for 219 yards and four touchdowns. This was Coppages ninth career 200-yard rushing game, the fourth this season.
The Sea Gulls put nine, sometimes 10 players in the box to try to stop Coppage, forcing Matt Blanchard to make plays. Blanchard did just that, going 11-17 for 134 yards and went a perfect 8-8 in the first half. He also made plays on his feet, rushing for 62 yards including two big first down runs.
The ‘Hawks are one win away from reaching the Stagg Bowl for the seventh consecutive year. Free tickets for students will be announced later this week on the sports information website (www.uwwsports.com).
