I began writing at the Royal Purple four semesters ago. I was a recent graduate of Madison Area Technical College, where I began writing at “The Clarion.”
Starting at the RP introduced me to great people, who have become great friends. This made the transition to UW-Whitewater much easier. Working at the RP has been a once in a lifetime experience and I’m grateful for every moment of it.From writing for sports to working as Managing Editor.
Mike: it’s been a pleasure working with you, being your classmate and hanging out as well. You’ve came so far since we started as sports writers. You’re a great leader for the staff. My time at the Royal Purple has been a huge learning experience, thank you for helping me along the way and being understanding to my non-traditional situation. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the night my car got towed.
Kyle: thank you for sharing your wealth of journalism knowledge with me. I’ve learned so much from listening to your advice during critiques. I appreciate all of the hard work you do and time you take to work with the staff, giving us a chance to interact with professional journalists and experience ‘real life’ situations. I wish you and your family the best.
Andie: You’re very talented and you have an amazing eye for design. I know you’ll do a great job as managing editor next semester.
RP staff past and present: thank you all. I don’t have the space to specifically mention each of you, but I’ve enjoyed getting to know every one of you. To the staff this semester, you did an awesome job. I appreciate all of your hard work.
Of course, I’d like to thank my family as well.
Lisa: I love you. You’re by far my favorite person in the world. Thank you for your everlasting support and love. I appreciate everything you do for me and our children, you’re a great wife and mother.
Skyler and Ethan: thank you for motivating me to do better everyday. I love you both so much.
Mom and Dad: you’ve done so much for me. I love you both. You’ve taught me so many valuable lessons. Dad, if it wasn’t for the sacrifices you made serving our country I would have never had the funds or desire to attend college. Thank you both for urging me to get back in school and start at MATC.
As I prepare for my last semester of college and then life after college I look forward to applying the many things I’ve learned at the Royal Purple to the next chapter of my life.
