Last week when the Warhawks earned a berth into the NCAA Tournament, that wasn’t the only good news.
Head coach Pat Miller and senior Chris Davis were named coach and player of the year in the WIAC after posting a 23-5 regular season record while winning the regular season WIAC title.
This is the fourth time Miller, who is in his 11th season as head coach, has received the award.
“It’s always great because its nice to get that recognition, but it’s obviously more of a programmatic thing than as a head coach,” Miller said. “There are so many people from assistant coaches to administraters and our boosters that contribute to the program.”
Davis, who averaged 22.2 points a game and eight rebounds in the regular season, is the 11th player in UW-Whitewater history to receive the award. Dustin Mitchell was the last person to receive in back in 2008.
“It was great, I definitely wanted to come out this year and make a statement to try to do the best that I can and I actually did it, so it was a great accomplishment for me,” Davis said.
