The Warhawks, ranked No. 4 by the latest D3hoops.com poll, went 1-1 last week winning 77-58 at UW-Platteville and losing 60-58 at UW-Superior.

The men’s basketball team will look to avenge its only loss of the season tonight at 7, when they take on UW-Stevens Point. The Warhawks fell to the Pointers 79-77 on Dec. 14. Since then, the No. 2 ranked ’Hawks have won nine straight games and took sole possession of first place in the WIAC.

Men’s basketball win streak to seven

Mid-December means relaxation for most, but for the men’s basketball team it meant grinding out a seven-game win streak. The team has now compiled a record of 15-1 overall and 6-1 in conference, and is currently ranked No. 9 in the country by D3Hoops.com.

The men’s basketball team improved to 8-0 this past week after defeating Illinois Wesleyan University on Wednesday 65-53 and stomping UW-Stout 84-51 on Saturday. The Warhawks will host UW-La Crosse tonight at 7 p.m. in the Kachel Gymnasium.

Young basketball squad has high hopes

The loss of Antoine Byrd may look bad on paper, but the Warhawks basketball team is looking to the future. Byrd averaged 13 points per game and four rebounds, but coach Pat Miller said he’s excited about the players he has at that spot already.
