Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is a process by which companies forcibly extract fossil fuels from underground deposits. Experts say the process pumps several million gallons of water and metric tons of chemicals and sand into a well to shatter rock formations and force fossil fuels to the surface. The Energy Policy Act of 2005 specifically exempts companies from reporting what chemicals they use to mine these wells.

With our years at UW-Whitewater being a time of growth and maturation for many of us, we often look to faculty and staff members as role models. We look to them to not only guide us in our studies, but in life as well.

Sometimes it takes great measures to get your point across to someone with different beliefs. Several UW-Whitewater faculty and staff members decided it would take a measure such as a 42-mile hike to Madison to deliver a letter addressing Gov.
