Alcohol abatement project leads to large-scale party busts

An alcohol abatement project used by the Whitewater Police Department to deter binge drinking and underage consumption helped bust the party on Oct. 20 at 404 W. Center St. The three hosts were charged with multiple counts of selling alcohol without a license and furnishing alcohol to an underages.

UW System asks for a more equitable approach to lapse

The UW System is asking for a more fair and proportionate amount of the budget lapse in comparison with other state agencies. System sent a memo to the Department of Administration last Wednesday detailing items they think should be deleted from the equation.

City council discussed the proposed 2012 operating budget of $9,134,425 last Tuesday. Plans are being made to cut spending $130,000 since last year, resulting in a 1.4 percent decrease.
