Men’s lacrosse team has high hopes entering spring

The club lacrosse team has started the season thinking positively. “Our goal is to win all the games we play,” team president Stephen Ziegele said. “It’s a little different than years past because we have a better team this year.”

Softball team off to hot start, go 11-1 in Florida

The softball team may have spent spring break in Florida, but they took care of business on the field during their trip, winning 11 of their 12 games to start the year. Its 11-1 record marks the team’s best start under head coach Brenda Volk’s tenure here at UW-Whitewater, which dates back to 1999.

Men’s tennis picks up two victories over the weekend

This past Saturday against Lake Forest College and Carthage College the Warhawks ended up going 6-0 in singles against both schools, as well as 2-1 on the doubles side. Resulting in total scores of 8-1 over both Lake Forest and Carthage College.

Track and field teams ready for national championships

The men’s and women’s track and field teams will be at nationals this Friday and Saturday in Grinnell, Iowa. A total of 13 athletes will be competing for the Warhawks.

The Harley Davidson Quad in Milwaukee couldn’t have ended any better for the women’s gymnastics team Friday. The Warhawks scored 186.475 points to win, followed closely by UW-Stout (185.475), Hamline University (180.5) and UW-Oshkosh (178.65).

Track and field teams sweep home invite

On Saturday the men’s and women’s track and field teams won the Rocky Rococo’s Invitational by a landslide. Accolades on the men’s side were plentiful, as 12 of the competition’s 18 events were won by the Warhawks.

Women’s hoops finally find stride

After the first 10 games of the season, the Warhawk women’s basketball team stood at 6-4 overall and were coming off a three-game losing streak. Conference play began and the `Hawks had a couple weeks over winter break to figure out they needed to improve. They played six games since Christmas and have won them all, including five double-digit wins.

Women return home after losing two

After a hot start to the season for the Warhawk women’s basketball team, the ’Hawks have lost two in a row to UW-La Crosse and UW-Eau Claire. The team’s next game will be at 7 p.m. The ’Hawks will be facing an undefeated top-10 team in UW-Stevens Point.

Key athletes return for men’s track and field team

Last year’s men’s track and field team ended up finishing third in the WIAC for both indoor and outdoor. Although the Warhawks may not have finished first, the team ended the year behind nationally top ten ranked teams, UW-La Crosse and UW-Oshkosh.
