`Hawks win fourth title in past five years

Unlike the last six seasons, defense proved to be the theme of the game this season as the Warhawks won their third consecutive Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl and their fourth in the last five years- all against Mount Union. The Warhawks stopped the Purple Raiders with just two minutes left in the game to secure a 13-10 victory, which increased the ’Hawks NCAA-best win streak to 45 games.

It didn’t take much time to show the two-time defending national champions were ready for their first-round matchup against Albion College. The Warhawks blanked the Britons 59-0 in the first round of the NCAA Division-III playoffs Saturday. The ’Hawks will host Franklin College noon this Saturday.

UW-Whitewater defeated UW-Stevens Point on homecoming 31-16. The victory extends the ’Hawks nation-leading consecutive win streak to 38 and they will look to tie the University of Washington for the fifth-longest all-time streak at UW-Eau Claire next week.
