In just its third season in existence, the women’s wheelchair basketball team has proved it can compete against national powerhouses. The team finished second in the National Invitational Wheelchair Basketball Tournament as a No. 2 seed, losing a heartbreaker, 58-56, to the University of Alabama in the championship game.

Picture-perfect ending gives program its ninth title

When the men’s wheelchair basketball team suffered its only loss of the season Feb. 5, its season looked a bit cloudier than it once had. Forget the fact the team had won 17 straight games to start the season before its loss to the University of Illinois. The team felt as though that was the wake-up call. From that point on, the Warhawks never looked back and it ended last Saturday with the team winning a national championship.
