Tennis teams make history

The men’s and women’s tennis team’s are coming off of two of the most important weeks in school history. The women, ranked No. 18, finished the Midwest Invitational 2-1 and beat two nationally ranked opponents, Gustavus Adolphus College and Denison University. Both victories were the first wins against either school in UW-Whitewater history.

Women’s tennis team goes 3-1 on trip

The women’s tennis team came back to Wisconsin with some success after defeating three of the four schools they played on their spring break trip in Georgia and South Carolina.

Five in a row for women’s tennis

For the fifth straight year, the UW-Whitewater women’s tennis team captured the conference championship title, after sweeping all six singles flights and all three double flights. The sweep marked only the third time this was done in WIAC history, with the ’Hawks doing it in 2008.

The women’s tennis team came into the day with a 2-0 record and a desire to take care of business at home and win their own invite. The Warhawks swept both River Falls and Stout 9-0 and headed into their final match versus Wheaton College with confidence. Last year, Wheaton beat UW-Whitewater 5-4.

Men’s and women’s tennis teams return with high hopes

Last season, the women’s tennis team finished 22-6, was undefeated at home and in conference play, and made it to the second round of the NCAA regional tournament.

Women to face Edgewood College in first round

After a long break from play after the Midwest Invite April 9 until the AQ Tournament April 29, the team has had another layover period. The ’Hawks have had a 13-day layoff since participating in the tournament and junior Kalla Schaefer said it will be a key to stay sharp.
